Science is a highly engaging activity. To lay people it may seem that scientists are those who sit in their offices and are busy with something incomprehensible and inaccessible to mere mortals. But imagine that your research can make someone’s life easier, improve things - it is very inspiring. It is really interesting to do science.
Within the project, we have just submitted the midterm report. The report covered the project progress from its beginning till now. The main task of the report was to convey the main ideas of the research so that non-specialists in this narrow topic could understand the main findings while spending a minimum of time. At the same time, we tried to cover and highlight all specific details so that a small number of the field specialists can understand, double-check, develop and apply the results.
Writing reports on scientific activities is not an easy task, since it requires from the author not only deep penetration into a scientific problem, but also the ability to quickly search and analyse information, conduct a critical generalization of material from different sources, integrate current research findings into a broader scientific picture taking into account their importance and novelty, as well as present complex and voluminous topics in relatively simple language. Successful research reviews will be reborn as books and textbooks, while weak or simply poorly written works will never been read or cited. In the previous sentence you can be acquainted with the biggest dream and the worst nightmare of every young ambitious scientist, including myself )
The main question remains how to motivate yourself to participate in all this? The choice is yours; this is your life. Moreover, it is only you who can decide how exciting it will be eventually.
